Our next auction will take place on Tuesday January 31, 2012 at 11:45am. This sale will be held at the Eagles’ Club, 17 Elm Street, Downtown Toronto. The hall is located west of Yonge Street on Elm Street, two blocks north of Dundas Street
Viewing for this sale will start Monday January 23rd until Monday January 30th from 10:45am til 5pm at our office at 211 Yonge Street, suite 200. We will allow limited viewing on the day of sale (Tuesday January 31st) from 9.40 a.m. to 11am. We are located at 211 Yonge Street, suite 200 just up the street from the Elgin Theatre and just around the corner from Massey Hall. We are across the street and just a bit south of the Eaton Centre Shuter Street Parking Entrance. Take the Albert Street/Massey Hall exit from the Queen Subway stop and you are outside our building.
Please note that by placing a bid, the bidder agrees to our Terms of Sale, as listed in the catalogue and at this web site. A 15% buyers commission will be added to the hammer prices. Shipping and applicable tax are extra.

Three diff - #37 mint F-H, other two with rare cancels. Owner who collected these claims #38 with "LITSUN/09" cancel first he states "never seen or heard of this cancel. F-VF.

1929 50c Bluenose block of 12 - CDS "WINNIPEG/MAN./OC24/1929" cancels. Hing re-inforcement on a few perfs. Attractive and fine. Very scarce in such a large block.

CHINA TO RUSSIA
1902 registered cover postage paid with 3 X 2c, 1 X 4c and 2 X 5c Dragon stamps tied by "SHANGHAI 5FE/02" CDS cancels mailed at Russian P.O. Shanghai and transferred to French Postal Service at "SHANGHAI/FE6/02" via Brandisi with Russian destination hand stamp. Very exotic and rare. VF.

Cover - postage paid with 10c Small Queen tied by "TORONTO/MR29/89" duplex cancel to Doctor George Leslie Mackay who established Taiwan's first hospitals in Western medicine. In 2008 the Taiwan government invested in the production of an opera based on Mackay's life. Cover backstamped San Francisco and "HONG KONG/AP29/89" Cover tatty but very rare. Use of a 10c Small Queen and addressed to an important Canadian.

Sold in our September 2010 Auction - AUTOGRAPH - ADOLPH HITLER
German Document signed Der Fuhrer Adolph Hitler on Golden Anniversary Document (50th) roughly translated "To the rare event (or feast) of the Golden Anniversary. The German government wishes you and your wife all the best wishes through me. May you have a long and not sad (or without trouble) life". Additional form has handstamp of town of Krefeld and addressed to the couple. Letter dated "24.10.1942" from state Minister's office and signed Berger. VG condition. Nice examples and very rare. We last sold this on September 16, 2004. Estimate $4000.00

$4 Jubilee forgery with fake squared circle cancel "HIGH STREET/TORONTO/OC/97" The Jubilee forgeries were listed in previous squared circle handbook and at that time no $4 was reported with this fake cancel. Popular and rare example.

"Victoria Land" ovpt. on one pence commerce stamp tied to cover by CDS "BRIT. ANTARCTIC EXPD./JA18/13" Cover dusty, torn and slightly stained, but stamp and cancel fine. Enclosed letter of expedition letterhead tells of "Captain Scott and four of his men losing their lives". An interesting and rare letter and cover.

Airmail - application by Capt. Terence Bernard Tully (London to London fame) for a commission in the Reserve of Air Force Officers. Signed by him! Dated Feb. 23, 1923. Provides many details of his life and service before and after WWI. Types of planes flown, etc. Rare forerunner to his last flight.

Plus label over top "OFFICIALLY SEALED IN THE/ARMY POST OFFICE" and finally blue "INSPECTION DIVISION/DEAD LETTER OFFICE/AUG5 1943/NO.60/OTTAWA CANADA". Some cover faults but very presentable and rare.
